This article addresses the issue whether the CEE countries have left the international markets calm during the global financial meltdown and economic crisis which brought a new question onto the agenda: the European sovereign debt crisis. The EMU is to feverishly tackle the problem of the peripherial countries like Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Italy, but, in the meantime, one might intuitively expect that the debt crisis is likely to take place not only in that region but also in some CEE countries.
