The purpose of this article is to contribute to the current discussions on political challenges ahead of Kyrgyzstan beyond the macroeconomic problems. Although the new political economic theory suggests that the substantial changes of the given constitution are go to seldom count, we can find precedent for such process. The Kyrgyz Republic after violently vicious months had decided with a referendum – with 65 per cent of the votes – in June 2010 to become a more parliamentary system leaving behind the presidential form which is dominant in the Central Asian region. The study discusses the macroeconomic and political background and the major challenges ahead of Kyrgyzstan.
